“Along the way to figuring life out, I tried many different media to express myself. I create art that intuitively encompasses the essence of a person, place or thing - whether it is a gift or a commissioned piece. I believe that my artwork will intuitively find its divine destination." Born and raised in Wisconsin, Deb has always found ways to express and embrace her creativity through the different processes of daily life. Over the years, Deb has worked in art glass design and restoration, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, charcoal, pencil, mixed media, collage, graphic design, web design, jewelry design, and photography.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Deb makes her first impressions on life. She considers herself to be a self-taught artist who has been hooked on visual self-expression since her first box of crayons as a child A. Debra Reich Schwalm In some sense, all Deb's art, from the first scribblings with crayons to today, is her visual expression interpreting the world around her and her feelings. There are so many things to rise above in life, but also so many lights in the world. In Deb's attempt to make some sense of it all, she reaches out to transform the difficult, painful, and ugly, into healing and light. Her work is intuitive, visionary, distinctive. Deb attempts to share this healing and light on all levels with her creations. She doesn't follow many of the traditional rules and says that by calling herself a mixed media artist she is giving herself the license to create with whatever tools or media seems to fit in the moment. Choosing what to create and choice of medium is an emotional-based decision. Light is the motivation. It can enrich the most ordinary things. The word "eclectic" is appealing to her but in truth there is a very definitive style of expression. Her work reflects her love of the creative process and inspired by social and spiritual relationships: the oneness of our universe and the manifestation of form from nothingness.
